The youngsters of Telekom Veszprém – with Manaskov, Mackovsek and Cupara – hosted Szpartak Moscow this time in the Veszprém Aréna. Veszprém started the game, with a tehnical foul, but the first goal was scored by Manaskov. The Russians equalized, but Veszprém answered with two goals. (8. min 3-1). Szpartak equalized again, but Veszprém scored two goals from back positions. The guest team took a timeout because they could not find the way to Cupara’s net. Bodor already scored his 4. goal, but the guests did not let Veszprém run away, so the home team took a timeout in the middle of the first half (7-6). After a Cupara save Manaskov increased the home advantage to 5 goals, that brought another Russian timeout (23. min 12-7). Hornyák scored twice, then Szuharev scored a huge goal. Veszprém led nice plays and scored beautiful goals. Manaskov was on fire in the first half, that ended 17:13 home lead.

 

Hornyák scored the first goal in the second half. Szűcs scored a goal from pivote position, but the guests could answer every home goal. Both team missed some shots, then Moscow came up 3 goals with a penalty (40. min 23-20). Cupara still saved well and Veszprém scored easy goals and ran away by 6 goals. The 30. home goal was scored by Szrnka from Manaskov great assist. Palasics came in the goal for the last 10 minutes, the difference was 8 goals in this period. Veszprém scored their goal easily against the tired Russians, only from the line missed several shots. Gulyás took a timeout, but Veszprém could not score the following attack. Manaskov scored another beautiful goal, definitely he was the man of the match with his 10 goal. The final result was a self confident 37-32 Veszprém win.

 

 

Gulyás Péter: It was a good game. We were mostly good at the defense and Cupara had good saves, so we were able to score fast break goals. I think that the 3500 standing supporters proved that hungarian players have a place in Veszprém.

 

Lev Szuharev: First of all congratulation to Moscow. Many thanks to the fans for supporting us the whole game. We had problems in the beginning against the opened defense, but after that we found the solution. Our defense worked well and our victory is well deserved.
 

 

Oleg Kulesov : Congratulations to Veszprém. They were playing very well and they were fast. They deserved to win today. Our players are young they would like to play well and they are motivated. I would like to congratulate to Veszprém once again.

 

Igor Radojevic: Congratulation to Veszprém for the win. We have a lot of problems, we were only 8, the others are injured or had visa problems. We had a lot of good moments, but bad also. Our situation is hard, but thanks to Veszprém for the fair game.
