The first five minutes of Motor Zaporozhye – Telekom Veszprém EHF Champions League game brought a balanced tempo. The defense of the teams were nem so good, that is why both parties racked up 5 goals each by the short time in the first half. Motor put the emphasis on line players, and they were good, as Bokhan scored most his team’s goals in the beginning of the half. Borozan was shooting with power, even the goalie went in the goal, making the standing 8:9 in the 13th minute. In the middle of the half, the usual line change came with Markussen, Maqueda and Moraes. Markussen gave nice assists and shot well from the back court. The standing in the 20th minute was 11:12. The Ukrainians were in the back of Veszprém and did not let their opponent get a bigger lead. To the end of the period, Motor took the lead which was equalized by Veszprém every time. However, the Ukrainians took the lead to the intermission, 18:17.
 
The second period started with two Moraes goals, but Motor was holding themselves and took a two goals lead, 21:19. Veszprém could not solve the defense around the line players, they conceded many goals from that position. In the 40th minute, Nenadic equalized to 23:23 with his 8th goal, then in the same minute, Veszprém took the lead by Moraes. The first time the „Építők” took a two goals lead was in the 44th minute, 26:28. Maqueda scored two in a row expanding the lead by three in the 50th minute, 28:31. To the last five minutes, the parties turned with a two goals Veszprém lead. Motor was doing everything they could, but in the end, it was not enough. Veszprém won, thanks to mostly their offensive performance. Final result: Motor – Veszprém 34:37
 

David Davis: Today was not our best match in defense. After we lost the ball they were running really good. Also, in the first half, we had a lot of problems with the line players. The second half was almost the same, we could not solve the problems in defense. Today we conceded more goals than we did this season altogether. We know that in the Champions League it is impossible to win a game without defense. In the end, we used all the players we have to try and arrive freshly to the endgame. We won on a court, that is really complicated, everyone knows that. I think Motor’s upcoming opponents will come here more focused after what they have seen here today.
 
Jorge Maqueda: Congratulations to Motor for the game. They played well. Our defense was not good but finally we arrived to where we were in the last games.

 

 
Gintaras Savukynas: Congratulations to Veszprém. It was a very exciting game for the spectators, but not for the coaches with this many goals. I want to thank my team, who came in strong against a powerful opponent and did well in the game. We missed the hardness in the second half. Finally, line players made the difference. The more experienced team used the mistakes we did and scored quick goals, to make the final result.
 
Artem Kozakevych: Congratulations to Veszprém. This loss is difficult because we played well for 50 minutes. In the end we were defeated by the more experienced team. We continue to prepare for the upcoming games.
