Telekom Veszprém continues the EHF Champions League against PPD Zagreb on Thursday at 18:45. The game will be broadcasted live by Sport 1.

The last time we met the Croatians was last season’s SEHA group clashes. We met them twice. First, on home court in Veszprém Arena, where we achieved an eight goals victory. The second game was in December, our last game of 2019. There was no surprise there, as we took a close 23:26 victory, with Yahia and Borozan scoring five goals each.

Zagreb started the season in the SEHA League Final4, where they gave a good performance. In the semifinal, they met Vardar, and they managed to lead in most parts of the game, but finally they lost in a penalty shootout. In the bronze game they played well, but lost by five goals. Their first Champions League game was against THW Kiel at home, where they suffered a bigger defeat of 21:31.

The roster of our opponent went through a huge change over the summer, as ten players left the club, and six new ones had to be integrated by Igor Vori. Aleksander Spende, Kristian Beciri, Ante Gadza, Josip Vekic, Gasper Hrastnik, Josip Eres, Nenad Kosteski, the club legend Zlatko Horvat, Arian Jovic, and Damir Bicanic left the Croatian capital. The newcomers are Nemanja Obradovic from Brest, Senjamin Buric from Nantes, Vlado Matanovic from Velenje, Todor Jandric from Metaloplastika, Ziga Mlakar from Plock and teamless Mario Vuglac.

Telekom Veszprém started well in the Champions League, after beating French side HBC Nantes in the first round, 24:28. The top scorers of the „Építők” were Manaskov and Nilsson with five goals each.
