Foreshadow: Vardar – Veszprém

Telekom Veszprém will visit HC Vardar on Sunday at 17:00 in the VELUX EHF Champions League. The last CL game of 2019 will be broadcasted live by Sport 1.

Our last encounter with Vardar turned out to be great. We beat them in Veszprém by nine goals, which was well-deserved considering the shown performance. Rasmus Lauge helped his team by eight goals, while in goal, we could be proud of the performance of Vladimir Cupara. From our opponent, Timur Dibirov scored eight times as well.

Vardar lost the last two games in the Champions League with a big difference. After playing 28:28 with Kielce on home court, they lost in Poland the next round by ten goals, 35:25. In the last round they travelled to Brest, and surprisingly lost 31:22 there. With this, they are on the sixth spot in the group, with the competition being close as ever. Their top scorer is Timur Dibirov, who scored 50 goals.

Our next opponent is leading its group in the SEHA League, with six wins and a loss, collecting 18 points so far. Behind them is Motor, trailing by three points. Vardar’s only loss was suffered from their Ukrainian chaser, whom they met again in the latest round and won 44:37. Timur Dibirov is the top scorer of his team in the SEHA League as well, with 36 goals in six games.

The “Építők” is heading to this clash with an almost perfect November, as besides the lost game in Kielce, they won all of their games this month. Last time they played on Tuesday in the K&H League, when they faced FTC-HungaroControl. After a hard battle, Veszprém won 30:35. In the Champions League’s last round PGE Vive Kielce visited Veszprém Arena. The game was won by Veszprém with a really good second half performance, 28:24.
