Veszprém – Zaporozhye pregame statements

Telekom Veszprém will start their run in the VELUX EHF Champions League on Sunday at 17:00. The opponent will be the Ukrainian champions Motor Zaporozhye. Our head coach and player told their expectations before the game.

David Davis: Motor Zaporozhye is a well-experienced team in the Champions League. Last year they arrived to the best 16. To play against them is always complicated because they fight until the end. We are going to play the first game at home, which is hard because it makes everyone a bit nervous.

Máté Lékai: Finally the Champions League is about to start. The first game is always difficult, and we are facing a tough opponent, luckily on home court. Many may not know this, but Motor is actually a strong team with serious players, who beat Vardar in the SEHA League last weekend. We are preparing for them a lot, and I hope there will be a full Arena with an atmosphere like last year. It is important for us, because our Supporters mean another player on the court. I expect a victory on home court, but I would like to emphasize once more, that is going to be difficult.

Andreas Nilsson: It is going to be a tough game. This is the beginning of the Champions League so we have a little bit of nervousness in us. Of course, I hope there will be a full house in the game and we will enjoy the match as best as possible.

Gasper Marguc: This is going to be the first Champions League game of the season. We know that Zaporozhye is a great team; they beat Vardar in the SEHA League last weekend. We cannot underestimate them. We want to start the new CL season with a nice victory for our Fans and ourselves. We are the favorites of the game in our own Arena but as I have said, we cannot underestimate anyone. If we play, how we started this season, serious and with good defense, we can expect two points.
