Telekom Veszprém will host PPD Zagreb in the upcoming round of the SEHA League. The game will be broadcasted live by Spíler TV.

The last time we met Zagreb was in April of 2017 on a Champions League best 16 game. We started the clash in away and for much surprise we could only win 22:23. Our top scorers were Marguc and Sulic with four goals each. In the home second leg, the difference between the teams came out and we won with a commanding 29:19 and qualified for the quarterfinal. Ilic, Ugalde and Marguc scored five times each in the Veszprém Arena.

The Croatians reached the best 16 last year in the Champions League. They managed to beat Skjern, Zaporozhye, Celje and the German cahmpions Flensburg in the group phase. They met with the eventual champion, Vardar in the eightsfinal and got into a bigger defeat of nine goals on home court. The second leg did not bring surprises and Vardar won 30:32.

Zagreb finished on second position in the regular season of the SEHA League, with as many points as Nexe and Brest. In the semifinal of the Final4 they met with Nexe. The Croatian clash was won by Zagreb 28:23 and they faced Vardar in the final, which brought a close clash. Finally, the Macedonians won the series with a 23:26 victory over Zagreb. Their top scorer last year was the experienced Zlatko Horvat with 83 goals.

Our next opponent visited Metaloplastika Sabas in the last round and won 25:28. David Mandic and Zlatko Horvat scored six times each.

The roster of Zagreb has changed significantly over the summer, as eight players came, while nine left the club. Matej Asanin, Alexander Spende, Marin Sipic, Kristian Beciri, Darko Stojic, Ante Gadza, Nenad Kosteski and Gasper Hrstnik will continue in the Croatian capital. Uhr Kastelic, Tin Kontrec, Senjamin Buric, Ivan Srsen, Leon Susnja, Gregor Potocnik, Lovro Jotic, Artur Karvatski and Nikola Potic have all left the team.

Telekom Veszprém played in the SEHA League this Tuesday, when they visited Meshkov Brest. In a close endgame, finally the “Építők” won 27:28. Our top scorer in the game was Rasmus Lauge Schmidt with his six goals.
